Welcome to the Eucharist, online.

I invite you to join me in my daily Eucharistic celebration at my Jesuit community chapel in Leuven. We are a small community of Jesuit scholars who study/research/work at KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven) while also engaging with the world at large.

The Eucharistic celebration takes place in English at 7:30 am (Central European Summer Time). That corresponds to 11:00 am (Indian Standard Time). For other alternate timings, see below.

If you are looking for a space to pray together as a family or a group, please do make an appointment by scheduling a Eucharist.

About the Eucharist

The Eucharist is an encounter where we remember and commemorate the Paschal Mystery of Christ in an act of thanksgiving and celebration. The sacrament also enables us to live this Mystery in our daily lives.

This virtual live Eucharist is not a substitute for an in-person Eucharistic celebration with the community of believers. However, in these present circumstances of the pandemic where we are confined to our own spaces, we can join together in an act of spiritual communion.

Practicalities

The virtual live Eucharist takes place over Zoom web conferencing. You will receive a link once you have scheduled and confirmed your appointment.

This is a virtual live Eucharist. There will be no recording of the Eucharist made available after the service.

You can prebook an appointment up to 30 days in advance.

This space is intended for families or groups who might want to pray together for a common intention.

Please do not schedule multiple appointments; that way, you can be more considerate towards other families who might also want to pray like you.

In case the suggested timing does not suit you, it could be possible to arrange a different time. Please use the contact form to suggest a new timing that is convenient for you.

Preparation

Our everyday surroundings are embodiments of the Sacred, if we care to see.

When preparing for the virtual live Eucharist, we recommend that you

  • switch off from unnecessary distractions
  • prepare your space by removing clutter and placing a lit candle before you
  • reflect on the daily readings
  • pray the act of spiritual communion
